Edith Poston-Banning (Edie), 87, of Palm City entered into eternal life on Sunday, July 12, 2015. Born January 21, 1928 to Elizabeth and Frank Johnson in Long Island, NY. Edie later moved to Florida with her family and graduated from Palm Beach High School in 1946. She attended Palm Beach Junior College where she met her husband Bryan Andrew Poston to whom she was happily married for 44 years until his death in 1991. Edie parlayed her love of needlecraft into a successful business, opening Poston's World of Ideas in Lake Park in 1969, which was followed by the opening of Poston's Arts and Crafts in Stuart in 1975. Both were local institutions until her retirement in 1989. In retirement, Edie continued to knit and crochet as well as enjoying more time with treasured friends playing bridge and mahjong, a game she loved for nearly 40 years. A line dancing class brought her and her family the blessing of Pete Banning. They married in 1996.

There was nothing that brought Edie more joy than having her family together. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, husband of 19 years William (Pete) Banning and her children Drew (Lissa) Poston, Dale (Karen) Poston, Dean (Caron) Poston and Rebecca (Chris) Crook. She was a beloved "Mimi" to 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 11 am at Treasure Coast Seawinds Funeral Home, 950 SE Monterey Rd in Stuart.
