Francis Staruch Obituary

FRANCIS JOSEPH STARUCH Francis Joseph Staruch, 71, passed away on December 1, 2006 at the Harper Hospice House in Stuart. He was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and relocated to Port St. Lucie in 2001 from Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. He was officially retired from the United States Navy in 1982 after serving for 25 years as a Chief Petty Officer as a Helicopter Air Rescue Crewman. He was also retired from Revlon, in Edison, New Jersey as a senior warehouse manager. In 1963 he was awarded a Commendation from the United States Navy for heroism for saving the life of a 3 year old neighborhood child who was endangered by strangulation as the result of a play yard accident, his prompt application of mouth to mouth resuscitation was credited with reviving her and keeping her alive until the First Aid arrived. He was a volunteer worker for Port St. Lucie Medical Center in the mail room and was a lifetime member of the VFW. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, daughter Maryann Zsiga and son-in-law Peter Zsiga of Jensen Beach, daughter Ronnie Duffie and son-in-law Jonathan Duffie of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Granddaughter Melissa Cox and Grandsonin-law Francis Cox of Yonkers, New York, Granddaughter Megan Yager and Grandsonin-law Jason Yager of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, Grandsons Michael and Matthew Duffie of Highland Ranch, Colorado A great granddaughter Ciara Cox and Great grandson Adam Cox of Yonkers, New York and a Great-grandson Aaron Yager of Mullica Hill, New Jersey. A very special cousin Gloria J. Sansone of Perth Amboy, New Jersey his (Coffee Girl) and a multitude of very special friends. He was preceded in death by a son Francis Joseph Staruch the Third and his parents Frank and Mary Staruch. Cremation services are private with a scattering of his ashes out to sea for a fine Naval Officer. Memorial contributions can be made to Harper Hospice House, 1000 S.E.
