Gail McManus Svec, 78, of Fort Pierce, FL passed away on Feb. 4, 2018.
At the tender age of 17, Gail named the Cattleman's Parade "Sandy Shoes" she would say the oft-quoted statement that "once you get Florida sand in your shoes you'll surely return" which inspired her to propose the name Sandy Shoes. She was also the very first Sandy Shoes Parade Queen.
Gail loved her sons very much as well as family gatherings. She also enjoyed and belonged to Orange Blossom Garden Circle, she was also a volunteer for the WIRA Christmas Kids. Gail also worked for Brown, McCarty & Alderman Law Offices.
Gail is survived by her sons, Charles Rhoads and John Rhoads; and her sister in law, Martha Keen McManus.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John Svec, her parents Maurice and Alida McManus, and her brother Dick McManus.
Funeral services will be at Yates Funeral Home Ft. Pierce location. Visitation is from 12 noon to 1 pm, with funeral at 1 P.M, officiated by Pastor Craig Bridgers, at Yates Funeral Home in Fort Pierce. Entombment will follow at Riverview Memorial Park.
