Helen Hazard

Helen Kerr Hazard, 81, died May 28, 2007 at Inova Mount Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, Va. She was born in Evanston, Ill., lived in Alexandria, Va., and was a former resident of Stuart. Before retirement, she served as principal of Gunston Hall School in Fairfax County, Va., taught Greek history and remedial reading, was the school's social worker and also on the board of directors. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the Army and Navy Club. She graduated from the University of Texas in 1947. Survivors include daughters, Celima H. Richardson of Falls Church, Va., Anne H. Hargrove of Alexandria, Va., Amanda A.H. Daniel of Greenville, N.C., Charlotte W.H. Moscardini of Safety Harbor; sons, John W. Hazard Jr. of Alexandria, Thomas B. Hazard of Chantilly, Va., and Charles A.K. Hazard of Stafford, Va.; and 16 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John W. Hazard. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Gunston Hall School Scholarship Fund. SERVICES: A memorial service is 4 p.m. June 9 at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Alexandria. A reception will follow at the Cedar Knoll Inn On The Potomac, Alexandria. Arrangements are by Demaine Funeral Home in Alexandria.
