Joseph Steinkerchner

Joseph Steinkerchner, 86, died Feb. 13, 2009, at his daughter's home in Sebastian. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and lived in several states before settling in Vero Beach, where he was a 25-year resident of Countryside prior to sharing his time between his two daughters' homes. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving as a sergeant in the 450th Bombardment Group, the Cottontails. Before retirement, he was a sales representative for Ludell Manufacturing in Milwaukee. He also owned several small businesses, including a dry cleaning store, a welding shop and a manufacturing plant, all in Atlanta. Survivors include his daughters Judy Bowes of Alexandria, Va., and Jane Pierce of Sebastian; and two granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Mary; and son, Lee.
