In Memory Of Josephine Maria Gallo January 01, 1917 - April 20, 2014 Josephine Maria Gallo passed away peacefully in Vero Beach, Florida surrounded by the love of her family, on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at the age of 97. She initially moved to Florida in 1997 and to Vero Beach in 2002. Josephine graduated from Grover Cleveland High School in 1936. While in High School, she received the Roosevelt Memorial Association Founders Medal in recognition of the history award, becoming the first female to receive this prestigious honor. She earned an AA from Nassau Community College, and a BA and MA in High School Counselor Education from C.W. Post Campus of Long Island University. A lady who gained the highest respect by all who knew her, Josephine was well known for her grace, compassion and strength. I miss Jo a lot and I remember those times we had dinner together here in the dining room at Regency Park. She is sorely missed. I will always remember the good times we had together.

What a strong woman Jo was! She was a model for us all…generous and warm hospitality, always with cookies and drinks or wanting to please us. She was generous and spoke out in a calm way for what she believed, making her point powerfully, yet always considerate of others. She was always reading the latest literature and we loved to discuss the characters and thought provoking details. She worked hard to keep fit, and eat well, loved her children, sisters and looked after all her family. She was grateful for a full life that she led.

I know you are in a better place, you always asked me why God hadnt taken you yet and I would say he will when he has your place ready for you, You were one of the most wise and loving people I had ever had the pleasure of meeting! You treated me like family and I loved you very much and miss you everyday! I really miss our talks and you ordering me to get sleep because I was working to much.. Here I am not sleeping again and all I think is Oh No She is gonna get me. We both had said God put us together for a reason! I Love and Miss you Mrs. Josephine Gallo! Rest In Peace and I will never forget you...

Thoughts to help you through this sad time..
Poem: Immortality

Do not stand at my grave and weep...
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow
I am the sunlight on ripening grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain
When you awake in the morning hush,
I am the swift up flinging rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave an cry...
I am not there.
I did not die.
