Junior Slone Obituary

Junior Slone, 82, died Oct. 12, 2008, at his home. He was born in Pikeville, Ky., and lived in Indiantown for 44 years, coming from Kentucky. Before retirement, he was the owner/operator of Slone's Apiary in Indiantown for 36 years and also was a former foreman for Via Tropical Fruit in Indiantown. He served in the Army. He was a member of the VFW in Indiantown and Beekeepers Association of Martin County. Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth Dale Pfister of Petersburg, Tenn., Eula F. Gopee of Jensen Beach and Tonya L. Alexander of Indiantown; sons, Douglas R. Slone of Glide, Ore., and Donald W. Slone of Palm City; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bernice Slone; son, Thomas Slone; daughter, Catherine Dixon; and a granddaughter. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Lake Hospice, Okeechobee. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Oct. 16 in the Chapel of Martin Funeral Home, Stuart, with a celebration service to begin at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ruth Rowe of the Bruised Rose Ministry officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at Port Myaca Cemetery. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home and Crematory, Stuart.
