KENNETH LEE PARMENTER

KENNETH LEE PARMENTER, husband and best friend of Marjorie Parmenter passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Ken and Marge's life together has been a rich tapestry of love; children, grandchildren, travels, hard work, and of course golf. Ken enjoyed an active life filled with swimming, bike riding, walking, golfing, playing the piano, and traveling to multiple countries. A single tear in his tapestry occurred in 1998, when their son, Mark Lee Parmenter passed. Ken and Marge have two daughters Sujo Offield of Palm Desert, CA and Kay Parmenter of Charleston, SC, four grandchildren Beau (Stacey) Parmenter, Spencer (Whitney) Parmenter, Victoria Parmenter and Olivia Parmenter. They are also blessed with two great grandchildren, Hollis and Lilah Parmenter. Ken was born in Lansing, Michigan on October 18, 1926 to Arthur and Vera Parmenter. He was co-founder of Al-Par Peat Company with his brother Robert Parmenter and step-father, Winfield Aldrich. Ken and Marge are residents of Jensen Beach, Florida and member of Island Dunes Country Club where he got his first hole-in- one last fall. They were long time residents of Ovid and are members of the United Church of Ovid. Following Ken's philanthropic legacy, the family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be given to Capital Region Community Foundation Ovid-Elsie Community Fund-Mark L. Parmenter Memorial Fund or United Church of Ovid. Memorial services will be held at United Church of Ovid on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. with a lunch to follow. The family will be available starting at 10:00 A.M. Arrangements by Keck-Coleman Funeral Home, St. Johns, MI.
