Lester Eastman Obituary

Lester George Eastman Sr.

Seabrook Beach, NH

Lester George Eastman Sr. (Les), 78, of Seabrook Beach NH, passed away December 31, 2018, with family by his side. Born on October 1, 1940 to Mae (Cloud) and Oscar Eastman, in Seals Beach, California. Lester is known best as a sea captain of many vessels, but was most proud of his contribution to Eastman's Fishing Fleet. Eastman's began with Lester's parents and family, (Charles Sr. & beloved wife Lillian, sister Rosa, niece Beverly, and nephew Charles). Lester and his first wife, Marcia (Blais) Eastman showed their sons how to navigate the ocean and reap the rewards for their lifetime. After the boys took over the business, Lester Sr. retired to Florida.

After years of retirement, he started to miss the water and went on to run tours along the Treasure Coast. Lester guided tours around Cape Canaveral, but most recently through Sebastian on the River King Cruises. In the summers he came back to NH, to contribute back to the business under his son, Captain Lester Sr. and close family friend Capt. Joseph Hurley. Lester also ran the Duck Boat, touring Hampton's coastline into the Seabrook Beach Harbor. He enjoyed summers alongside his sons and daughter as they carried on the family traditions.

Les Sr. is survived by his children, Lester Jr. (David), Merrilee Eastman Preston, Edward (Carolyn), Philip (Virginia), Leslie (Joe) Chambers; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by extended family and scores of fishing buddies.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Cancer Society/the Hospice House of Vero Beach.

Public service to follow in the spring.

We spent our summers in a rented cottage on Franklin Street, walking distance from Eastmans' dock - my Mom, younger brothers and I spent many hours out fishing on your family's party boats, knew Oscar and Les, hadn't thought much then about our ages (I'm 76) but realizing now how much I'd learned from watching the Easrman family interact and crew the boats, helping us, sharing the ocean . . . Thanks for reminding me of how much I'd admired ALL of your family - sorry to learn of this loss . . .

Our thoughts and prayers to all the Eastman family and Eastman's fishing family. Les was a wonderful man and how we enjoyed him telling us his fishing stories, and giving our son Kody advice on fishing, he will be greatly missed. My heart is hurting even more since I too lost my dad Dec. 31, 2018. Love to you all.
