Martha Dwyer Obituary

MARTHA MARY PAGE DWYER 01-31-35 - 10-2-07 Martha was born and raised in New York, NY. She was a graduate of Washington Irving High School in 1953 and went on to Nursing School at Mount Sinai Hospital graduating in the class of 1956. Martha later earned a Bachelor of Science in Professional Arts in 1983 at St Joseph's College in Maine. Martha raised 5 children and returned to work once living in New Jersey at Morristown Memorial. In 1974 the family moved to Port St. Lucie, Fl and Martha worked at Fort Pierce Memorial hospital until Lawnwood Regional Medical Center opened. While at Lawnwood Martha became the Head Nurse of the 4th floor and worked directly with many nursing classes of Indian River Community College. Martha was even an honorary guest speaker at several graduation ceremonies. Martha also worked as a Home Health Nurse part time during the early 1980's. Martha moved on towards the end of her career and became the Orthopedic Specialist at Lawnwood working along side the Orthopedic Surgeons and directly with the patients. In 1984 Martha was awarded the Dr. First Humanitarian Award. Since the late 1970's Martha was a frequent bowler. Martha mainly bowled at Port St. Lucie Lanes. However, over the years she became a very accomplished bowler traveling to many states to bowl in tournaments. Martha even received an award that put her in the ''Hall of Fame '' from the United States Bowling Congress for her ''Meritorious Service.'' Survives include her husband of 52 years George F. Dwyer Sr., Son George F Dwyer, Jr., and wife Jeanne, child Bryan Dwyer of Rockaway, NJ. Daughter Kat Stephens and husband Richard Stephens of Bonita Springs, Fl, Son Gregory Dwyer of Sebastian, FL. Daughter Joanne Kremkau and child Nicole Page Kremkau of Port St. Lucie, FL. Always and forever she will be remebered in our hearts and minds. a healhty beautiful person. She will be missed. A well respected person we will love her dearly. She will from here on always be watching over us, guiding in every way possible, held in our hears for ever more We love you Mom

I'm so very sorry to hear about Martha's passing. I certainly enjoyed bowling with her and working with her at LRMC&HI. May all the family find comfort in knowing she was so well respected.

I am a nurse now living in Atlanta Georgia.Mrs. Dwyer guided and trained me as an orthopedic nuse. I thank her for her guidance she was such a wonderful and caring person. God bless the family and God bless her on her journey to Heaven.
