Mary Harriett Leggett Nicholls

MARY HARRIETT NICHOLLS Mary Harriett Leggett Nicholls died March 6th at VNA Hospice House, Vero Beach, Florida. She was born Oct. 8th, 1912 in Charleston, Mississippi. Graduated from Memphis Tech in Memphis, Tenn. She moved to Detroit for employment and met our father, Samuel Harvey Nicholls, born in London, Canada. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 1963 four days before their twenty fifth anniversary. Her parents were Charles W. Leggett and Mary Harriett (Hattie) Carter Leggett. She had two brothers, Carter Leggett and Wyatt Leggett and two sisters, Barbara Forbes and Frances (Bitsy) Miller all deceased. She is survived by her two beloved children and their spouses, James W. Nicholls (Debbi) and Suzanne Cote' Gault (Douglas). She has three surviving grandsons, Robert Cote' (Kristin) Atlanta, Ga. Scott Cote' Grand Rapids, Michigan. James Cote' (Cindy) Howell, Michigan. Grandson Rick Cote' (Denise) passed away Oct. 6th 2010 in Fishers, Indiana. She has 2 step grandchildren and their families. Her four great grandchildren are Michael, Jessica, Lauren and Nicholas. Four step great grandchildren Matthew, Storm, Brandon and Danielle and their families. She was dearly loved by her family and friends. She is also survived by her niece Barbara Forbes Crole and children, Lawrence Forbes and family, and Donald Leggett and families. She worked for J.L. Hudsons Dept. Store, now Macys for many years. She enjoyed working at holiday times at Douglas and Suzanne's flower shop, Johnson's Flower World Florist. Her interests were travel, playing her organ, genealogy and recording her music and photography, She has traveled extensively thru out the states and Europe. She moved to Florida from Michigan in 1984 to be near her children. She loved the Lord and belonged to First United Methodist Church, Vero Beach. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 PM on Friday, March 9, 2012 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL with service to follow. She will be transferred to Thayer Rock Funeral Home in Farmington, Michigan. Burial will be in Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia, Michigan next to her husband. Flowers in kind will be accepted at Thayer Rock, Farmington, Mich or donation to the American Heart Assoc or the American Cancer Society Paid Obituary
