Patricia Olvany Obituary
- - Patricia Olvany passed away peacefully on August 22nd surrounded by family. Beloved wife of the late George Link Olvany. Loving mother of Patricia Hodson (Robert), Kathleen Olvany Riordan (Robert), George (Patricia), John (Kendra), Annemarie Olvany-Vierling, Stephen (Sharon), and Susan Merlini (Peter). Adoring grandmother of Michael and Molly Hodson; Brian Riordan; George Jr. and Patrick Olvany; Sean (Alexa), Connor (Marlies), Claire, and Kelly Olvany; Alexandra, Brendan, and Kevin Vierling; Kimberly, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, and Steven Olvany; McNally, Kacey, Peter Jr., and Emma Merlini. Visitation Monday August 26, 5- 8 pm at Fairchild Sons Funeral Home, 1201 Franklin Avenue, Garden City, NY. Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday August 27, 10am St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Garden City, NY. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Autism Speaks and the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS).

I just now realized for some reason that Aunt Pat passed on my Aunt Betty´s birthday. Aunt Bet will be 91 Sunday. My Mom died in 1955 and Aunt Bet tells me it feels like yesterday. I was 2 years old. Aunt Pat and Uncle George ALWAYS treated me as if I was one of theirs and I will NEVER forget that. We ALL had fun times together because Aunt Pat was ALWAYS energetic, loving and positive. Pat was such a fun friend during our Garden City days. I remember asking her how she was able to have so many friends from every strata in town, and she replied oh that's easy, every weekend George and I jump into our car and cruise around Garden City. If we see a line of cars in front of a home, we stop and join the party! I will miss her sense of humor and her big smiles .

Aunt Pat and Uncle George were such an instrumental part of Helen, Fred, Aunt Betty, Wendy, and Kevin's younger years. It's impossible to forget the energy and passion that Aunt Pat brought each and everyday. The family get togethers at the Olvany's - and there were many - were fun, relaxing, and always full of classic Aunt Pat stories. She made us all laugh all the while cooking a feast for a lot of people. A big thank you to my cousins for sharing your incredible Mother and Father with us. We certainly have some amazing moments to remember because of them! Love, Kevin.
