Ray Barnes Obituary

Ray M. Barnes, 72, died Jan. 15, 2009, at his home. He was born in West Palm Beach and lived in Palm City since 1992, coming from Lantana. He was a graduate of Lake Worth High School in which he was a member of several different athletic teams including the Trojan's football team, still holding unmatched athletic records. He started RMB Concrete and Pre-Cast Inc. of Riviera Beach and was the owner and operator. He was a member of the Methodist church in Lake Osborne. He was a member of the Seabees for 32 years and also served on the admiral's staff for 12 years. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Rosalind Barnes of Palm City; sons, Steven Barnes of Lake Worth, Richard Barnes of West Palm Beach and Jay Johnson of Huntsville, Ala.; daughters, Joanne Cline of Tallahassee and Caye Johnson of Palm City; sisters, Carolyn Nash of California, Katherine Wingfield of Virginia and Barbara Bell of Ohio; eight grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters. Memorial contributions may be made to the Martin Memorial Foundation, Speech Therapy Dept., P.O. Box 9010, Stuart, FL 34995. SERVICES: Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Jan. 17 and 10 to 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at Forest Hills Funeral Homes, Palm City Chapel. Services will be 11 a.m. Jan. 18 at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Palm City. A guest book may be signed on foresthillspalmcityflorida.com.
