Robert Rowell

Robert Rowell, 89, died April 13, 2013, at his home. He was born in Alma, Ga., and lived in Okeechobee for 60 years, coming from Georgia. He was a Navy veteran. He was a member of the Trinity Freewill Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion. He was a mechanic for McArthur Dairy. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Annie Ruth Rowell of Okeechobee; daughters, Helen Wilson of Okeechobee, Katherine Morin of California, Joyce Upthegrove of Plant City, and Carolyn Ballew of Lake City; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his son, Bennie Rowell; and brothers and sisters, Klear Rowell, Buddy Rowell, Mary Whitmire, Noke Rowell and Birdie Bridges. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Okeechobee, P.O. Box 1548, Okeechobee, FL 34973; or Trinity Freewill Baptist Church, 1840 N.E. 39th Blvd., Okeechobee, FL 34972. Services: Visitation will be at 2:30 p.m., with the funeral at 3:30 p.m. April 18 at Trinity Freewill Baptist Church in Okeechobee. Burial will be April 19 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
