SOPHIA FOLEY Obituary


SOPHIA STEFIKOS FOLEY Sophia Stefikos Foley died May 18, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Vasiliki Kilia Stefikos and Evangelos J. Stefikos. She was born in Manchester, NH on January 18, 1918 and was educated in Manchester schools. She married Nicholas E. Folias and moved to northern New Hampshire in 1938, where she assisted with her husband in the Hotel and Restaurant business. After retiring they moved to Florida in 1983. She was a member of the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Pierce and was active in the Philolptochos Ladies Society, a member of the order of Eastern Star in Ft. Pierce and Past Worthy Matron in Littleton, NH Chapter #37 and a member of Church Women United of Ft. Pierce, FL. Sophia was a recipient of the Archangel Michael Honor Medal in 2005 from the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Atlanta, GA. Her hobbies were gardening, knitting and crocheting making many items for the Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas E. Folias; son, Kimon; brother, Vasilios; sisters, Harecelea, Irene, and Helen. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Folias Hill of CA and Stella Carol (Folias) Foley of VA; brother, Christo E. Stefikos of NH; four grandchildren, one great granddaughter all of CA and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church 2525 S. 25th St. Ft. Pierce, FL 34981. A Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11am at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Ft. Pierce. Burial will be at Glenwood Memorial Cemetery in Littleton, NH.
