William Vallar Obituary

William H. Vallar, Jr.

William H. Vallar, Jr., 89, passed away on July 27, 2020, from cancer. Bill was born in New York on March 5, 1931, and grew up in Haverford, PA. In 1953 he graduated from the University of Delaware, where he was on the golf team, and he served as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956.

His career in finance spanned over 45 years, most of it spent in Philadelphia, Manhattan and New Canaan, CT.

Bill retired to Vero Beach in 1998. He played golf at Vero Beach Country Club and served in numerous leadership positions at Community Church of Vero Beach.

A talented golfer his entire life, he earned the title of club champion at Aronimink Golf Club, Newtown Square, PA, in 1966. Another golf highlight was his double eagle at Winged Foot Golf Club, Mamaroneck, NY, in 1973.

Bill was an avid reader, especially of fiction, and he studied the craft of writing fiction at the age of 80. He went on to write and self-publish two novels. His themes included love, golf and finance.

He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Mary Beth; daughter Cindy and her husband Brendan; son Scott and his wife Hatsy; three grandsons, Jack, Doug and Teddy; three step-granddaughters, Robyn, Isla and Victoria, and his sister, Jane Arey.

A service is pending due to the current virus situation. Donations in Bill's memory may be sent to Community Church of Vero Beach, 1901 23rd Street, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
