Andrew Lindquist Obituary

Longtime Longview resident Andrew Daniel Lindquist, 90, took his last walk around the lake Jan. 19, 2009.

He was born March 21, 1918, in Niobe, N.D., to Gust and Anna (Mattson) Lindquist. He was raised on the family farm and moved to the Longview area in 1938.

Andy met and married Marie Hallee, a nurse at Cowlitz General Hospital, in 1951 and they started a family. Andy was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church. He was a teamster and retired from Reynolds Metals Reduction Plant. After retirement, Andy enjoyed camping, walks around Lake Sacajawea, breakfast at the Pancake House and bragging about his granddaughter, Brieann. In later years, Andy enjoyed walking at the mall and visiting with family and friends.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marie; and his siblings, Carl, Alfred, Mary, Edward, Herman, Earl, Leonard, Ellen and Millie.

He is survived by a daughter, Karen (Gus) Fant of University Place, Wash.; a son, Gary Lindquist of Glenburn, Maine; a granddaughter, Brieann in New York City; and many nieces and nephews.

At Andy's request, no service will be held.

Contributions may be made in Andy's name to the Community Home Health & Hospice, P.O. Box 2067, Longview, WA 98632.

Arrangements are by Steele Chapel at Longview Memorial Park & Crematory.

What does one say when you lose your last uncle, the one who was so quiet and big hearted. The one who pulled you in a horse buggy at uncle Hilders. The one who love to go to the pancake house on Saturdays with cousins. Karen and Gary our prayers are with you. Bye Uncle Andy.

Karen, Gus, Brieann, and Gary - We are saddened to hear of your loss. Andy was a kind and softspoken soul. He will be missed. My mom (Elaine Halvorson) spoke of him often.

I am so sorry for your loss. My mother, DeLoris (Lindquist) Olson - Edward's daughter, spoke often of her Uncle Andy when us girls were growing up. It was nice to see a current photo as I can't help but think my own Grandfather would have looked a lot like him if he were still with us today. My Grandpa Ed was truly my best buddy till the age of 7 when he passed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
