I worked with Bob for many years, both in the mill and also outside it. He could be tough and difficult, but also cooperative and helpful. If you were honest with him, he was fair with you. We came from different worlds but that didn't ever make us enemies, because Bob was open-minded about judging people. He just didn't suffer fools willingly. I'm sorry that I rarely saw him after he retired, but I'll always consider him a good friend.
