Ellen Tobin Obituary

Ellen M. Tobin, 62 of Cathlamet, Washington died at St. John's Medical Center on December 25, 2004.

She was born November 4, 1942 to Dr. Albert and Mildred Mount in Oregon City, Oregon.

Ellen graduated from West Linn High School and attended both the University of Oregon and Portland State University.Ellen married the boy next door, Jack Tobin on June 29, 1963.

In her 41 years of marriage she enjoyed raising a family and helping in all sorts of youth programs including scouts, sports and educational tutoring.Cathlamet Women's Club and the Orthopedic Guild are two of the civic organizations she has been a member of during her 32 years of residency in Cathlamet.

Ellen is Past Treasurer of the Washington State Federation of Women's Clubs. She and her husband were honored as Citizens of the Year by the Cathlamet Women's Club in 2003 and were Grand Marshall's of the 2004 Bald Eagle Day Parade.

The performance arts and traveling were some of Ellen's great joys.

She attended many an opera and several Broadway shows which were reflective of the city life she took great pleasure in.

Her very favorite trip was to the Galapagos Islands where she enjoyed the closeness of the animals.

Some of her other travels have taken her around Cape Horn, Panama Canal, Europe, Africa, Iceland, Greenland, Alaska and most of South America.She is survived by her husband Jack of Cathlamet, sons John of Redmond, WA, Jeff of Cathlamet and 5 grandchildren.A Memorial Service will be held in the Multipurpose Room at the Cathlamet Grade School on Thursday December 30, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Cathlamet First Aid Division, PO Box 142, Cathlamet, WA 98612, St. James Family Center or St. James Episcopal Church, 1134 Columbia Street, Cathlamet, WA 98612.
