Kevin Seelke Obituary

Kevin Wayne Seelke

October 20, 1965 - November 12, 2024

Kevin Wayne Seelke, 59, passed away unexpectedly on November 12, 2024 while vacationing on the island of Maui with his girlfriend, Susan Erickson.

Kevin was born on October 20, 1965 in The Dalles, Oregon to Wilma and John Seelke. Kevin moved multiple times during his childhood - from The Dalles, Oregon to Bend, Oregon, various cities in Iowa and Texas, and to Pine Grove, Oregon where his father worked at the Bear Springs Ranger Station. Kevin's family settled in Longview, Washington when he was four years old and it was here that Kevin continued to reside for most of the remainder of his life. He graduated from R.A. Long High school in 1984 and went on to attend PTI in Phoenix, Arizona where he graduated at the top of his class for automotive and mechanical repair. Kevin decided he wanted to be an electrician so he joined IBEW Local 970 and successfully completed their apprenticeship program to become a licensed journeyman electrician. During his career, he worked out of the union hall, at Stimson Lumber in Clatskanie, Oregon, and at Northwest Hardwoods in Longview, Washington. At the time of his death, he was employed by Advanced Electrical Technologies in Longview, Washington.

In April of 1993, Kevin married Sandi Blaschke at the Hitching Post in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Together they raised three children, Marissa Nico, Mikaela Joy, and Michael-John, in homes in Skamokawa, Washington and Longview, Washington. Kevin was a devoted father who enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his children as they kayaked, fished, camped, and sat around campfires.

No one was a stranger to Kevin. He easily shared his smile and his "dad joke" style of humor. He always made time to help others and was quick to lend a hand and give his support to anyone in need.

An avid outdoorsman, Kevin loved hunting and fishing throughout the Pacific Northwest and in Alaska. He was happiest when he was walking in the woods or spending time at the beach. Some of his favorite times were making memories with his friends and family while hunting deer, elk and birds, shooting rock chucks, and fishing in lakes, rivers, and the ocean.

Kevin is survived by his three children, Marissa Nico Seelke and Michael-John Seelke of Austin, Texas, Mikaela Seelke who is currently a student at the University of Washington and his father, John Seelke of Molalla, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his mother, Wilma Seelke.

A celebration of life will be held at Shekinah Christian Center, 1015 3rd Ave, Longview, Washington on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a gathering at the Ashtown Brewing Company at 1145 11th Avenue, Longview, Washington.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in Kevin's honor to continue training the electricians of tomorrow. Your tax deductible donation (EIN 93-1294144) can be made to the Area 1 Electrical Education Trust at PO Box 55310, Portland, OR 97238 or you may call 503-459-4056.
