I can't believe it's been 3 years since Akiko's passing. I remember the day I heard the news and it crushed me and so many others like a heavy heart. No matter how much time passes, 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years or 3 decades, Akiko will remain in our hearts forever. Rest in peace Akiko-san, or Morii-Sensei, as my boys called you. We will never forget you....

Just hearing of Akiko's passing. I met Akiko through the Japanese Language program at the Douglas School. We considered her a family friend. Akiko made other people happy through her warmth and genuine care. She was extremely generous with her time and talents. My deepest condolences to her family. She was a bright light.

Our deepest condolences.
Our children learned Japanese from Morii sensei at Japanese school.
She was a great teacher and always cared for students. Our children could keep learning thanks to her.
We really miss her warm smile.

My daughters were the two of Morii-sensei's first Momo-gumi students.
After several years, one of my daughters started Japanese 1 (Nichi-ichi) and had Sensei as her teacher again.
In both of the classes, Morii-sensei was so sweet, had a sense of humor, and was able to deal with each of the students gently and flexibly.
Even though my daughter is no longer of Sensei's student, Sensei cared about her until recently.
When I try to think of Morii-sensei, ONLY good memories pass through in my mind. I just realized that I loved her so much. My heart is filled with grief.

Akiko was warm, insightful, caring, supportive, and had a great sense of humor. To share just a glimpse: seeing how much Akiko enjoyed spending time with our daughter, playing, drawing, petting the cats, and other fun activities that entertain a toddler; I knew that every child that had the opportunity to learn from Akiko had a teacher that truly cared. If you are part of Akiko's family, one of her students, or her friends, you know all of our lives were enriched having known her. Rest in Peace Akiko, you will always be remembered with love and warmth.

Both my sons had the great fortune of being Akiko Sensei's students. I cannot begin to tell how enriched their student lives at C.T. Douglas was because of their beloved Japanese teacher. They have preserved all her notes, homework and the lovely greeting cards that she sent them each summer over the years. Our family is deeply saddened by the loss. We wish the family peace and strength during this difficult time.

Akiko had passion for teaching. Akiko, another teacher and I were the Nensho (3 years old) class teachers. We talked how precious teaching children was. We laughed, cried and encouraged together. One day Akiko expressed her passion to teach Japanese in the Japanese class as second language. She really wanted to teach Japanese and Japanese culture to every student from the bottom of her heart. She loved communities, friends and her family. We loved her so much and will love her forever.

My son Aidan who is 6 years old at C. T. Douglas in Acton school wanted the family to know that because of Akikoi Sensei and his Japanese class he loves the food and "all kinds of things about the language." The Williams Family in Acton was so sorry to hear the news. She had a gentle and sensitive soul. You are in our thoughts.

Morii Sensei, you will be greatly missed. Your enthusiasm and effort in teaching our children the beauty of Japanese culture and language has been a great asset and benefit to the Japanese community in the greater Boston area. We hope that you are in a better place and will continue to look over your students and friends.

Akiko was a very special person and I am glad that I had the opportunity to know her. She was gentle, kind and very humble. Akiko was one of the most unselfish people I know -- never asking if she could help or looking for praise when she did help -- she always quietly did what needed to be done. Even though we all miss her, she is in our hearts.

It is with a very heavy heart that I send my condolences to your family. It is difficult to express the sadness I feel in my heart as it surely pales in comparison to yours. Ms. Morii was such a fantastic teacher to my son at JLS, and he loved her. Please know that we are very saddened by this loss and hope that the pain you feel now is softened by the tremendous love and happy memories Ms. Morii has left with you.

We are so sorry for your loss. Akiko Sensei taught our daughter for many years at Douglas school. She was kind, she was patient, she was a wonderful teacher. Those who knew her know the gentle grace she displayed in everything she did. Japanese lessons were the lessons our child enjoyed the most. We cannot take away your grief; we can only grieve with you.

Morii-sensei taught my 7 year old daughter at the Japanese Language School. The last time I saw Morii-sensei was at the school when she had her last class, my daughter had an after class meeting with Morii-sensei just to talk about my health concerns. I still remember, with her smile she taught my daughter the importance of taking care of the family, how my daughter can help her sick mom. My daughter still follows Morii-sensei's teachings.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Morii-Sensei's family. She had touched many of us with her caring nature and wisdom.

My whole family mourns the passing of Akiko-sensei. She taught both of my children at Douglas School, and they were so inspired by her teaching that they became very interested in Japanese culture, watched Japanese anime, and even built treehouses for To

My whole family mourns the passing of Akiko-sensei. She taught both of my children at Douglas School, and they were so inspired by her teaching that they became very interested in Japanese culture, watched Japanese anime, and even built treehouses for Totoros. She was more than a language teacher--her teaching opened the hearts and minds of our children to the world.

Morii-sensei, our beloved first teacher at the Japanese Language School of Boston, was patient and kind to our whole family as our daughter embarked on the journey of learning Japanese. Morsi-sensei was one of the most dedicated, kind, creative and generous teachers and human beings that I have ever met. She always went the extra mile, even calling us on weekends to make sure that our daughter understood the homework for the week.
We are so very, very sorry to the Morii family for this unimaginable loss.
