Alice Goulet Obituary

Alice J. (Bigbee) Goulet, 85 passed peacefully in her sleep September 3, 2010.

Her husband of 60 years Donald F. Goulet passed January 25th of this year. She is survived by her four children: Joan G. Beaudoin of Whitinsville, Alice E. Riordan and her husband Jack of Worcester, William D. Goulet and his wife Donna of Cleves, OH and Michael F. Goulet and his wife Karen of Grafton; five grandchildren: Kathryn Emberg, Bryan Riordan, Michelle, Thomas, and David Goulet, many nieces, nephews and a number of her high school and college friends of over 60 years. She was predeceased by a grandson Billy Goulet, two sisters, Elizabeth Bonner, Eleanor Quinn and one brother Fred Bigbee.

Mrs. Goulet was born March 15, 1925 in Englewood, NJ the daughter of the late Frederick J. and Edith (Hennessey) Bigbee. She was raised in Cranston (RI), graduating from St. Xavier High School and Rhode Island College. Mrs. Goulet began her career as an elementary teacher in Cranston (RI) and then taught in Grafton and Worcester schools for many years. She and her husband then enjoyed retirement in Narragansett, RI and Florida before coming home to Grafton in 2007 where she had lived most of her life. Mrs. Goulet was a parishioner of St. James Church and a member of The Daughters of Isabella and its St. Margaret's Circle both in South Grafton, a member of The MA Teachers Association and The Rhode Island College Alumnae Association. She particularly enjoyed playing the piano and traveling with her husband.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Peters Central Catholic Elementary School, 865 Main St., Worcester, MA 01610 in lieu of flowers honoring her love of children and their education.

Funeral & Calling Hours

The funeral will be Tuesday September 7th from The Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester St., North Grafton followed by the celebration of a Funeral Mass at 10:30 am in St. James Church, 89 Main St. (Rt. 122A) in South Grafton. She will then be laid to rest with her husband in St. Philips Cemetery in Grafton. Calling hours are Monday September 6th from 4 to 8 pm at the funeral home in North Grafton.
