Ann C. Carlstrom, 85

WESTBOROUGH - Ann C. (Scannell) Carlstrom, 85, of Westborough, passed away on Monday, August 18, 2014 in the company of her family after a long struggle with Alzheimer's disease.

She was the daughter of Edward and Marion Scannell and sister of Mary Scannell Graw (deceased), Edward Scannell and Judy Scannell Donovan (deceased). Ann was married to Victor M. Carlstrom, who predeceased her in 1980.

Ann lived in Westborough since her marriage in 1952. She was a graduate of North High School, Worcester, and graduated from Our Lady of the Elms College in 1952. Her personal interests and pleasures included playing bridge, camping with her family, and spending time with people. Her kindness and warm smile touched the hearts and lives of many people. She loved being a citizen of Westborough, member of St. Luke's Parish, and her roles of sister, mother, aunt, grandmother, and friend. All those she loved were truly blessed.

Ann's family includes her children, Christine and her husband Stanley Wells of Fredericksburg, VA, Victor M. and his wife Pat Carlstrom of Clifton, VA, Michael Carlstrom of Grafton, Mary and her husband Roderick Lorente of Harvard, Patricia and her husband Stephen Cordeiro of Clinton, and John and his wife Catherine of Dracut. Grammy will be forever loved by her grandchildren, Jason, Melissa, Margan, Victor, Eric, Maxwell, Levi, Tracy, their families and great-granddaughters, Elizabeth and Pattan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Amy Scannell, brothers-in-law Charlie Donovan, George Graw, David Carlstrom and many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. She was also predeceased by her special love, Linwood "Bob" Gatley and predeceased by her son-in-law, Michael Haskell.

The family wishes to acknowledge the loving caretakers at Notre Dame LTC, Harmony Village who cared for Ann for the past 15 months.

Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 23, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

August 22, 2014

Please accept our condolences for your loss.
My memory of your mom has always been of her standing in the kitchen on Longmeadow Road smiling and cooking while what seemed to be dozens of kids headed off in any/all directions. I always felt welcome in her house.
And watching Ann and Marion navigate through New Orleans during Mardi Gras was quite memorable.
