Baheej Khleif Obituary
Sleepy Hollow, IL - Dr. Baheej Khleif, beloved husband of Dr. Susan Anderson-Khleif; devoted father of Leah (Yonatan) Oren, Riyad, Albert (Colleen) and Waseem Khleif; loving son of Bassem Khleif and Naifeh Warwar Khleif; dear grandson of Leah Warwar; fond grandfather of Oded and Irit Oren, Shantel, Tara, Alex and Myles Khleif; loving brother of Dr. Bud Khleif, Dr. Suhail Khleif and Mr. Waleed Khleif; dear uncle of Richard, Tricia, Jeff, Michael, Imad and Jameel. Baheej taught at Worcester State University for 23 years and Columbia College of Chicago for 18 years. He was a novelist, and wrote plays and short stories and fables. He earned his Ph.D in Sociology at the University of Colorado in Boulder, his Masters of Social Science at the International Institute of Social Studies in The Hague, Holland, and a Masters in Drama at Harvard University. He was an Antiochian Orthodox Christian and who spoke Arabic, Hebrew, and English. Baheej's name means joyful and he had a great joy of life. He loved his family and friends, and students, and they loved him. God bless Baheej. His Lighthouse.
Visitation and service was on Monday, August 13 at St. George Antiochian Church in Cicero, IL.

I am sorry to hear about the family's loss. Baheej was my teacher at Columbia College and was always so uplifting and encouraged me to continue studying sociology in grad school. He was one of few teachers who made a big impact on my life.

My deepest sympathies to Susan and the entire family. I worked in The University Club dining room & knew Baheej for almost 4 years... When I'd ask him if he needed anything else, he'd always say 'Just a smile.' He will be missed.
