Benjamin Hamelin Obituary

Benjamin R. Hamelin

Whitinsville - Benjamin R. Hamelin, 17, died unexpectedly on March 15.

Ben was born on October 15, 1999 in Worcester, Mass., the only son to parents, Robert Hamelin and Stacie Holmes.

Ben attended the Devereux School in Rutland, Mass. for most of his high school career before recently returning to Northbridge High School.

Ben loved music and would often be found with ear buds hanging out of his shirt and one in his ear. He loved drawing and had amassed a stunning collection of work over the last couple of years. He also enjoyed woodworking, which was a skill he learned while he was at the Devereux School. He was truly proud of his fashion sense, which included his passion for his massive shoe collection, his clothes, and his hairstyle. Ben was very social and well-liked by the kids he had gotten to know over the years, both in Northbridge and afar.

Ben enjoyed backyard basketball and camping with his family at Maple Park in East Wareham, Mass. He will always be remembered for taking his younger sisters for extreme golf cart rides around the campground. Ben valued the time he spent with the people closest to him in his life: his friends, his sisters, and his family. He will be lovingly remembered for his infectious smile and his larger-than-life personality.

Ben leaves his mother Stacie Holmes and step-father Jay Yargeau, father Robert Hamelin, and three sisters Kailey and Ashley Hamelin and Emma Yargeau, all of Whitinsville; grandparents Michael and Patricia Hamelin, of Uxbridge and Theodore and Brenda Cugini, of Whitinsville; step-grandparents Robert and Donna Yargeau, of Uxbridge; uncles and aunts, Brian and Lisa Hamelin, of Douglas, Patrick and Andressa Hamelin, of Marlborough, Paul and Christine Cugini, of Northbridge, Elizabeth Cugini, of Uxbridge, and Sharon Cugini, of Worcester; cousins Daria, Emilee, Angelina, Brooke, Ethan, and Cody. He also leaves several extended family members throughout the area.

Calling hours are Monday, March 20, 5-8 PM, in Carr Funeral Home, 24 Hill St., Whitinsville. Ben's funeral service will be at 11 AM, Tuesday, March 21 in the Good Shepherd Church, Linwood. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ben Hamelin Memorial Fund, c/o Stacie Holmes, 1 Summit Street, Whitinsville, MA 01588. To leave condolences for the family, please visit
