I was saddened to hear that Bernie passed away. He and Joan were very close friends of my parents and as a child our families would get together. I'll always have fond memories of our time spent. Joan, Ellen, Hal and family, my sincere condolences to you all. May his soul peacefully rest within your hearts...

It is sad. Another member of a group of 5 couples that was never called the Gang of Ten: Coblentz, Levy, Rothschild, Robbins & Hodes. On any given weekend night you could assume these 5 couples were probably together in one combination or another.

I grew up always knowing Bernie. Bernie was my parent's friend, and Ellen and Hal's dad. I knew him as a kind even keeled man who was a good dad. Bernie was a really nice guy.

As one generation passes on, and we become our parents I will miss occasionally seeing Bernie having breakfast at the Broadway, where he alway wore a smile.

Ellen, Hal, and Mrs. Coblentz, ( I still can't call her Joan). I am so sorry for your loss. In the coming days find solace via memories of happy times you spent with Bernie.
