Beverly Perry Obituary

Beverly J. Perry, 71, formerly of 11 Bolles Street, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning. She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years, J. Donald (Don) Perry.

She was born on Flag Day, June 14, 1938 in Putnam, CT, daughter to the late Anthony and Catherine (Terwilleger) Campbell. Bev was raised in Wauregan and was a 1956 graduate of Plainfield High School. After marrying she made her home in Putnam and most recently she resided at Woodlake in Tolland. She worked for over 35 years for Day Kimball Hospital as a Nursing Assistant and the WIC program retiring in 2002. For many years she served as a Red Cross swimming instructor which allowed her to pass on her love and passion for swimming to families in Northeastern CT. Bev also was an active member in the Grange, a volunteer in Scouting and a proud member of the Putnam Congregational Church serving on numerous boards and councils. Bev also enjoyed baking, cake decorating, and square dancing which was where she first met Don. She enjoyed listening to classical music, researching her Scottish lineage and above all else, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren - her pride and constant joy. She leaves her children and spouses: Gerard A. and Cecile Perry of Danielson, Sara J. and James Martin of Ashford, John A. and Patricia Perry of Putnam, David D. and Heather Perry of Tolland. Her grandchildren: Crystal Perry, Jennifer (Perry) and husband John Sorenson, Jessica (Martin) and husband John Aubin, Amanda Perry, William Perry, Heather Perry, Stephanie Martin, Michaela and Alix Perry and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Louis Campbell, Ralph Campbell, Russell Campbell, Norma Briere, Margaret Carchidi and Elizabeth Ormerod, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

A memorial service will be 11:00 AM, April 8, 2010 at the Congregational Church of Putnam, 175 Main St., Putnam, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bev's name to Day Kimball Hospital Chaplaincy Program, PO Box 632, Putnam, CT or the American Red Cross Connecticut Chapter, PO Box 5003, Hartford, CT 06102-5003. No more pain, no more suffering and you are with the love of your life. Our sympathy goes out to the sisters and brothers, especially Cookie, who is most dear to us. Bevy, I'll remember the day before my surgery when you came & sat on my bed and made me understand all would be well. I'll never forget that. Sorry we won't be home for the services but Bevy is in our prayers as well as the siblings. Love, Donald & Bernice
