Carol Carpentier Obituary

Carol A. (Kalakowsky) Carpentier, 67

Warren - Carol A. (Kalakowsky) Carpentier, 67, of Coy Hill Rd. died Tuesday June 20 following a 6 week battle against a brain injury. Born in Boston, January 21, 1950, she grew up in Tewksbury and traveled for many years as a member of the US Army, including spending 3 years in Belgium. Carol then came to Western Mass. and settled in Warren. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church in Palmer and her love for singing prompted her involvement with the Folk Group at the church. Carol spent her professional career as a self employed stenographer for area lawyers. She most recently pursued a passion of advocating for children through the CASA Program (Court Appointed Special Advocate) in Worcester working as a representative for the health and welfare of biological and foster children. A source of pride was also her involvement in the designing and building of the log home in which she lived. She will be deeply missed by her long time partner and soul mate, Edward Stawiarz with whom she lived, her 2 sons, Nelson of San Francisco, CA and Christopher of Hingham, MA, along with her 3 precious grandsons, Tyler, Dylan and Logan. Calling hours are on Sunday, June 25th from 2-4:00 p.m. at Beers & Story Palmer Funeral Home, 1475 N. Main St. A Funeral Mass will be Monday, June 26th at 1:00 pm. at St. Thomas Church followed by burial with military honors at 3:00 p.m. at Mass. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Agawam. Please meet directly at church. For those wishing to honor Carol's memory and her devotion to children, please make donations in her memory to casaworcestercounty.org or CASA Project, 100 Grove St., 4th Floor, Worcester, 01605. Dear Nelson and Chris,

I don't think you would remember me but I was a friend of your Mom and Dad and played guitar in the St Thomas Folk Group with them back in the early 90's I was Googling to get contact information for your Mom and was so saddened to see this sorrowful news. I was so very fond of her. SHe was such a light in my life when I was having some issues and I will always remember her sense of humor! She was a pure delight and I was hoping to get together with her after all these years! Well my condolences to you all and prayers for strength and comfort.

Much love,
Renata Rasp (nee Goodreau)

PS Please send my love to your Dad
