Catherine M. "Kitty" George, 83

Shrewsbury - Catherine M."Kitty" George, 83, a long time Shrewsbury resident died peacefully Wednesday January 7, 2015 in the Kindred Center of Westborough. Catherine is survived by her two loving sisters; Louise George and Marie Smith both of Shrewsbury, and many nephews, nieces, great nephews great nieces, and great great nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by six brothers; George, Johnny "Ringo" Anthony, Peter, Albert, and Junnie, and two sisters, Rita Panarelli, and Genevieve Mastrototaro.

Catherine was born in Worcester daughter of the late Charles and Eva (George) George and lived in Shrewsbury most of her life. She also lived in Arizona for several years before returning to Shrewsbury."Kitty" always worked in the restaurant business. She worked at the family business the Boulevard Diner for several years, and then went out on her own to open her restaurant, Kitty's Place on Lake Ave which she ran for many years before she retired. She attended Our Lady of Mercy Church and also St. Anne's Church in Shrewsbury. She was always a happy person that loved being around people, especially children. She loved her work and also enjoyed drawing and gambling. However her most treasured times where those spent with her family, she will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Catherine's funeral will be held Saturday from the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL 370 Plantation St. with a Mass at 10:00AM in the Church of Our Lady of Mercy, 341 June St. Calling hours will be held from 4PM to 7PM on Friday. Private Entombment will be in Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum. Contributions may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church. So sorry to hear of Kitty's passing. I never scratch a ticket or sing with a plastic spoon without thinking o her. She loved to laugh and her laughter was infectious!!! She will be missed.

Of all the family members I had the awesome pleasure of working with at the diner, Auntie Kitty was by far my favorite! I loved how she sang to her meatballs and lasagna! She always said that it was the singing and praying that made them so good! Can't argue that! And who could forget her moment of fame on the Food Network..."This is Mama's Lasagna! Don't get any on ya!" Keep em singing Kitty!

My condolences to the George Family. I have many fond memories when I was a child of Kitty and my sister Margaret. They took me everywhere with them, including family functions with the George family. I will always cherish the memories with them from my childhood. Rest in peace kitty!
