Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Donaldson Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Christopher B. Donaldson US Army Chief Warrant Officer 2. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Never Forgotten, rest easy. I remember thinking during Christmas 2005, "Will I have to salute Chris now?" when your mom was talking about you. My first salute to you was not the one I ever imagined it would be. I remember shortly after joining hoping we would be stationed together, so I would have family close. However, God had a different plan for you ... I hope you are at peace.

Dear family of CWO2 Christopher B. Donaldson,
We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. We hope this will bring pride and comfort to you.
We at Gethsemane Church believe that there is purpose to life. We send this letter with our deepest appreciation for the greatest of sacrifices, you and your loved one have given to this country. We know it is not enough, but please allow us to assure you that your loved one is not forgotten.
Very Sincerely
Frank G. Noyes

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Christopher, but I am remembering
his service. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.
REST IN PEACE, HERO, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

The Memories Revisited
Original memories stand clear as day,
the first time we said hello or hey hey.
I sit on this bench thinking of the times,
drinking a glass or eating some good food.
Drifting around are old friends gone and some anew,
sometimes we take for granted how long forever can be.
Its always to late to say it will never be me,
we all do our own things to make it through,
for some its beer, women, liquor, and hardtap brew.
Others sulk at lifes anxieties thrown at them,
for me its this old bench in a nondescript park.
I come here often to see old friends,
an old man mumbling his amends.
I pray that fortune visits on me,
the perdition it has rewarded those in between.

For those who have had cold sleepless nights, endless days of discomfort,
For those who have endured the agony of war for my sake.

Dedicated to the mother
Rose Path
Momma laid soft petals at my feet,
And whispered a prayer that mothers pray,
Soft as silk,
Covering her seeds like a warm quilt,
A rose paves my way.
On the cross a rose was laid,
With tears and blood the world was saved,
In that blood my heart was bathed,
There is a rose that will never wilt,
He covers His seeds with petals of silk.
Roses are a gift from God,
They line the road where angels trod,
They are in God's hand ,
He holds them close,
For He planted each seed,
That grew a rose,
Roses are a gift God has gave,
With the petals a road is paved,
On the cross a rose was laid,
And with a rose the world is saved.
The thorn of the rose made the crown,
The silken petals made the King a gown,
There is a beautiful flower I've found.
The seed of the rose was planted by God,
The rose lines the path that angels trod.
Momma laid soft petals at my feet,
And whispered a prayer that mothers pray,
Soft as silk,
Covering her seeds like a warm quilt,
A rose paves my way.

Where angels gather
There is a unmarked grave in babyland,
God rocks the cradle with His hand,
Angels gather there I know,
Taking home the little soul,
There is a marker in the soldier's grave,
It tells where a brave man lays,
Angels gather there I know,
Carrying home the brave soul,
Angels gather here I feel,
Wiping the tear when we lose loved ones dear,
When love is taken and the cold winter wind starts to blow,
Angels gather to carry the soul.
There is a garden in heaven above,
Where angels gather with those that we love,
Wherever the heart is,and our loved ones go,
Angels gather and carry their soul.
Somewhere beyond the gates
Someday I'll stand,
at the gates of heaven,
Where a rose path leads,
that I follow while I'm living,
A rose was given.
And now waits,
Somewhere in heaven.
beyond the gates.
There is a garden.
Where all can find pardon,
Where all can be forgiven.
Healing all heartaches.
Somewhere in heaven,
beyond the gates.
I am walking the path,
that angels have trod,
Until at last I see the face of God,
To be His servant while I am living,
To hold the rose,
that He has given.
I know that He patiently waits,
Somewhere beyond the gates.

I just came across the news of Chris's passing and it knocked me off my feet. I was friends with Chris back in Germany before he went to flight school and know him as a hard working, and very friendly guy. I later caught up with Chris when I was going through flight school myself...he had stopped in to talk with me a few times. I would like to send my deepest condolences on your loss and I will be keeping you all in my prayers. God bless you all.

Chris and I were stationed in Germany togeter, many years ago. We had some great times, he is the one who motivated me to apply to flight school. When I went to WOCS and flight school I spent time with him at Rucker, he was that guy that I always kept running into, i guess I always thought it would always be that way. He was a very special man who knew the value of hard work and hard play. I will miss him very much and I know that the world lost an angel. To his family: he always had the best stories about you guys, he loved you very much.

My condolences to the family for their loss. I went to WOC school and flight school with Chris until we split off into our advanced airframes. I have many great memories of Chris. I had a kid on the way so I didn't make it to the 4th of July trip that they went on but I have lots of memories of him and Geoff coming into class and talking about their water baloon exploits. To the Donaldson family I wish to express my condolences. I couldn't make it to the services and wish I was writing for different circumstances. I went to school with Chris and remember him as a fierce competitor and likeable person always on the go. I am in the army and had heard that he came into the army but never was able to run into him. I only wish now I would have made more of an effort to track him down and say hello. I have lost a few friends since entering the military and wish to share something written long ago by myself. I was sitting on a mountain at NTC in California during a training rotation in 1999 when I found out that a good friend of mine had been killed and felt inspired to eulogize him forever in writing because that was all I could do at that point. No words can ever replace someone we lose but sometimes reading them can make us all remember them fondly and help with the hurt....
The Memories
I sit by myself on the bench,
trying to fathom life.
As I grow solemn I see them,
the friends who have gone away.
They smile at me, waving and laughing,
they have reached their eternal bliss.
As they see my sadness they grow still,
one pantomines the question, why?
I tell them I miss them, badly,
as a group they glide forward.
I nod my head in appreciation of their efforts,
I let the tears roll down my cheeks.
They bow their heads in silence, knowing how I feel,
for they to have lost friends near and dear to them.
One by one they fade, fade away, until there is only one,
he raises his hand in pride, showing me the greatest honor.
Slowly I rise to stand at attention, tears flowing freely,
I return his salute, knowing it wont be forgotten.
As he fades away I smile for I know the truth,
they will be with me forever, no matter what I may do.........

Your smile will always be forever in my heart. I'll never forget that summer day during our high school years when my friends and I came out to the ballfield to watch you guys play. As you went up to bat, we cheered and hollered your name. You looked over your shoulder and flashed us your beautiful smile. I don't remember who won that game, I don't remember who I was all with, but I have never forgotten that smile.
Rest In Peace Our Hero.

Our deepest sympathy goes to your family. Chris was such a great friend to Geoff when they shared that house during flight school, that we made sure he met our daughter, Emily, too! Our visit was right after the memorable Fourth of July party Geoff described! They were still talking about the fun in August! Although I only met him that one time, he seemed to be a great young man and we should all be glad he was willing to represent our country.
He was one of the best.

To Chris's Family,
I was in WOC school and Flight School with Chris. It was a terrible shock when I heard the news. I had hoped that Chris and I would cross paths again. We had many, many good times while we were both at Fort Rucker. It brought back great memories to hear CW2 Geoff Mann talk about our 4th of July trip. It was one of many that were unforgettable. He will be missed by many. I am saddened that Chris and I will not cross paths again. I was looking forward to meeting up with him and catching up on everything that we have missed. I am sorry for your loss, he is a great man that loved to fly.

To Chris's family,
I was one of Chris's two roommates during his time in flight school and just wanted to let you know what a great friend he was.
Over the past week I've chosen to think about all the great times Chris, Dave, and I had during our year at Ft. Rucker, and all the funny things Chris did and said. When I offered him soy milk he'd reply, "Geoff, I don't drink milk squeezed from a bean." When he brought a toaster back after a trip home, he was constantly telling us just how much he enjoyed toast. I don't know anyone who liked toast so much. His impatience with the previews on DVD's always cracked me up. Chris was a talented water-balloon sling-shot shooter. Fortunately, our neighbors never caught on to us. We all had a great trip to the beach for the 4th of July in '04. We swam across a "navigable waterway," attended a huge floating party in 4 feet of water, safely drove some intoxicated guys' boat back for them, and jumped off a bridge, all in one afternoon. And I can assure you, Chris was right in the thick of things the whole time.
I can also think of dozens of instances where he picked us up from the airport, took care of closing out our lease, volunteered to drive the gang around, paid the bills, brought us food, etc. He was, by definition, a great friend.
While I am saddened to think that I won't be running into Chris by chance in person sometime in the future, I look forward to the memories I will encounter thanks to him. I am very grateful to have known Chris.
I regret that I am unable to attend his funeral, but please accept my sincere sympathy and heartfelt thanks for a great friend.

Chris and I used to see each other when we were children out at Lake Sara. Someone I love used to say, "If you have to go sometime, you might as well go doing something you love." From what I've learned about Chris, he loved to fly. Unfortunately, his time came sooner than any of us would have guessed. Although it won't bring him back, his contribution to freedom on this planet will never be forgotten.

I am the mother of a Fort Drum, 10th Mountain, 3rd BCT soldier on deployment in Afghanistan.
I want to offer your entire family my heartfelt prayers and condolences on the loss of Chris! My heart aches for the pain you are going through. Cherish and hold close the memories of Chris. May God grant you peace in knowing what a special man Chris was.
I talked to my son on Monday, and he expressed his sadness about what had happened to his “battle buddies” and wished for me to convey his condolences as well. He promises to carry on with the job that Chris and the others were doing.
Know that your pain is shared by many military families across this nation. We know and we care.
“Perhaps they are not the stars
but rather openings in Heaven
where the love of our dear ones
pours through and shines down
upon us to let us know that
they are happy…..”
Thank you giving all of us in this nation the ultimate sacrifice that a family can make in order to preserve our precious freedom!

To the Family of CW02 Christopher B. Donaldson:
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05.
I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort. When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero. God Bless this courageous soldier and family.
