Judy, It is so hard to loose such a close friend as Dan. I could always count on Dan for an odd story or to set me straight by embarrassing me when I didn't know someone's name. I could write a book just filled with all the ways he touched my heart and my parents. He even helped me rewrite a paragraph in my young adult novel. My heart bleeds for you. Our friendship will live through eternity. You are always in my prayers as you know how I love you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Dan. He and I were in the Air Force together, all 4 years, basic training, tech school and Norton AFB. He and I another guy went to Chicago and New Years eve 68/69 trying to pick up girls at the USO (not much luck). When we got to Norton he would loan me his car to go out on dates. Went with him when he picked out his new Opel Cadet. We lost track after the Air Force but got back in contact about 4 years ago on line. I will miss you Dan.Your friend Blake Bethards

Judy,
Art and I are shocked to hear about Dan. We'll always remember his hot chilli recipe and all the outfits you made for the reenactments. Words cannot express how sad we feel for you and your family. I'm sure he has already found his place in heaven. God bless your family. Sandy & Art Bartlett.

Thoughts and prayers to Judy and family. Dan made re-enacting fun for the re-enactors as well as spectators. Listening to Dan talk to the public from his deep knowledge and appreciation of history combined with his sense of humor was always so interesting. Dan's funny and insightful "running commentary" made you want to stay on your toes.

Judy,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of sorrow. There is now no reason to watch a Pat's game here in Indy if Dan isn't there in the end zone. Remember the good times and cherish them.

Dan always kept us laughing with his stories, jokes and opinions about everything. He had such an expressive face, always with a twinkle in his eye. All of us in the reenactment world will miss him for sure. The North End Zone at Gillette Stadium will be different without him, but he'll be watching from above for sure, and giving us all a kick in the butt when we need one. NFL game officials and visiting teams will certainly miss his constant "remarks" aimed at them from the North. Thank you Dan for all you have given to us. Judy, my prayers are with you, and I look forward to seeing you continue to educate the public about the secrets of 18th century herbalism.

We always enjoyed listening to Dan's portrayal of the barber/surgeon/frater at 18th century reenactments and always left with new information. He and Judy were usually surrounded by interested people, both reenactors and spectators. Our thoughts and prayers to Judy. Bill and Cori Rose
