Daniel Lavoie Obituary

Daniel J. Lavoie, 26

Manchester, NH/West Boylston - Daniel J. Lavoie, 26, passed away on September 18, 2016 in Londonderry NH, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Daniel was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 7, 1990, son of Matthew E. Lavoie Sr., and Karen J. (Tyrell) Davis. He was raised in West Boylston and attended local schools, graduating from West Boylston High School in 2008.

Following graduation, Dan fulfilled his childhood dream of proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps. During his service he traveled around the world. Daniel's unit helped rebuild during the earthquake that hit Haiti in 2010. Later he would serve in Djibouti and the Somali Coast of Africa where his unit would assist and protect the coast from piracy. He also served in Turkey before having two Tours of Duty in Afghanistan. In the last years of his service he was stationed in New Hampshire where he was a Firearms instructor for fellow Marines. It was also during this time that he was given the opportunity to assist with the Toys For Tots program, which has donated over 469 million toys to children in need during the holidays. Sargeant Lavoie also served with other Marines in the area attending funerals for USMC veterans to provide honor guard presence.

He was a talented and gifted musician and could play almost any instrument he touched most notably the piano, guitar and drums. Daniel was currently studying Building Design at UMass Lowell where he one day had hopes of becoming an engineer. Dan had a love for movies, disc golf and making people laugh. He made friends wherever he went and always made a lasting impression upon new acquaintances. He will be truly missed by his family and anyone that had the true pleasure to call him his friend.

He leaves behind his father, Matthew E. Lavoie Sr., and his wife Nancy of Ashby; his mother, Karen J. Davis and her husband Glenn of Villajoyosa, Spain; a sister, Sarah M. Lavoie of Willmington, NC; a brother, Matthew E. Lavoie Jr., of Seattle, Washington; paternal grandparents, Louis E. Lavoie Jr., and his wife Marie Edna of Lady Lake Florida; maternal grandparents Thomas and Carol Tyrrell of Brigantine, NJ, his loving girlfriend, Gina Lupoli of Hudson, NH; and many, uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 4:00pm until 7:00pm in FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 1 West Boylston St., West Boylston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 24th at 10:00am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish, 111 Worcester St., West Boylston. Dear Karen and family
I was shocked and overwhelmed with sadness to learn of the loss of your beloved son Dan. I am so so sorry to hear of his passing and the tragic way he died. My heart breaks for you because I remember him playing piano at the 4th grade talent show as he is my son rob's age. Also Karen I have been trying to get ahold of you just to get your new address when this notice popped up on my screen. He was such a brave man and soldier and so handsome as well as giving his life for others. Thank you Dan and may God bless your family. Karen as a mother my heart aches for you and the rest of your family. I wish I could have come to give you support but just found out today the 30th. So sorry Matt and Sarah as well as his Dad and all the rest of the family and friends. Karen i wish I could put my arms around you now in a firm embrace to say how sad I am.
Love,
Marie Stiles

A Grateful Citizen ~

September 22, 2016

Though our grateful nation mourns with you in your loss, we can only feel a small part of the loss you are experiencing.

Your loved one will always be a part of our country's story. As such, their sacrifice on behalf of our nation will always be honored.

While the process of grieving requires a lot of time and, somehow, is never complete, we will be praying for you and grieving with you.

In deepest sympathy.

Dan came into our lives just a few years ago and the bond was instant. Such a fine young man with visions for his future, hard working, love for his country which he served eloquently. He spoke of his family with love and admiration, and always made you laugh. We enjoyed having him at our home and will miss him dearly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his entire family and friends at this time.

Every Parent

September 21, 2016

While the loss of a loved one is never easy, even when anticipated, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from us too soon. Your recent loss of your loved one whose tragic death at such a youthful age is definitely in the category of those hard losses.

We ask for God's blessings on your family. May you find the courage and strength to move forward in peace and confidence by remembering you do not walk alone.

In deepest sympathy.
