David Campaniello Obituary

David J. Campaniello

at age 49

Shrewsbury - David J. Campaniello of Shrewsbury died suddenly on June 27th, 2019 of complications from diabetes. He was 49. Dave is survived by his wife, Eirinn Jean (Buckley) and his two young daughters, Michaela Jean and Maria Jeanne. He also leaves behind his mother, Dr. Jean A. (Caparso) Campaniello and brother, Paul M. Campaniello (Debra) both of Shrewsbury, his aunt, Marie (Norman) Caparso-Limoges of Leicester, his uncle, Richard (Joan) Caparso of Auburn, his cousins Peter (Suzanne) Caparso of Worcester, Philip Caparso, Dana Campaniello of Santa Monica and his in-laws Brian (Ann Marie) Buckley of Worcester and Martha (Paul) Rizzoli of Jamaica Plain. Dave will be missed by his nieces and nephews, Michael, Nina and Marissa Campaniello, Gianni and Sienna Campaniello, Kathryn, Allison and John Buckley and Lewis and Lily Rizzoli. He was predeceased by his father, Michael F. and brother, Mark F. Campaniello, as well as his mother-in-law Jeanne (Bourgeois) Buckley.

Dave was a proud son of Shrewsbury and was educated in the town school system. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 1988 and went on to Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering in 1994. He received a Master of Business Administration degree from WPI in 2001. Dave was employed by Square D/Schneider Electric, a multinational specialist in energy management and automation, where he worked in Sales and Account Management with the company in Hartford, Salt Lake City (where he was trained as a Luge Weigh-In judge for the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympics) and Boston from 1994 to 2005. Dave moved to Panduit, a global leader in the manufacturing of electrical and telecommunications products, in 2005 where he worked as a Contractor Program Manager for New England and a Territory Account Manager in the Boston Metro Area. In 2008 Dave returned to Square D/ Schneider Electric as an Area Sales Manager in the New England Market. Dave was a valued employee at both companies and enjoyed the friendships and working relationships of colleagues and customers alike.

Locally Dave was a Town Meeting member, Shrewsbury Fiscal Study Board member and Youth Sports Assistant Coach at Shrewsbury High School (Football) and Notre Dame Academy (Skiing). He was a member of the Italian American Victory Club in Shrewsbury where he spent many Monday nights vying for a Bocce title with his brothers and friends. Dave was an avid sports player and fan. He shared those loves with his wife, daughters, and extended family. Dave was a fierce competitor, who hated to lose, and was a lethal Scrabble player. He was a proud owner of a 3 year old Great Dane, Codega and enjoyed his time as master to Butkus (a Bull Mastiff) and Ditka (his first Great Dane). His family has enjoyed a lifetime of moments chuckling about Dave and his dog adventures.

Second to home, Dave's favorite place to spend time was Lake Winnipesaukee, a region introduced to him by his parents, whom he revered. Dave grew up skiing on the slopes of the mountains surrounding the New Hampshire Lakes Region and spent summers waterskiing, jet skiing and boating around the inlets and byways of Lake Winnipesaukee and Paugus Bay. He joyfully introduced his daughters to the Laconia environs, and taught them how to ski down the runs of Gunstock, how to hang on to a tube bopping behind a speedboat, how to paddleboard and kayak in the still waters of Paugus Bay and how to tie a good knot to secure the boat to the dock. No doubt they will be thinking of him when they teach their own children to do these things.

Family, tradition and friends were paramount to Dave. If summers and vacations were meant for Lake Winnipesaukee, then holidays and birthdays were meant for his parents' home and his mother's homemade pasta. Christmas Eve at his beloved Aunt Marie's was especially anticipated each year-amazing food, a blood sport Yankee Swap (for many years moderated by Dave) and much revelry. His glee and enthusiasm for that night are lovingly remembered by his daughters Michaela and Maria.

Calling Hours for David will be on Sunday, June 30, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His Funeral Mass will be on Monday, July 1, at 9:30 a.m. in Saint Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury (Please go directly to church). A procession to Saint John's Cemetery in Worcester will follow the Mass.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Shrewsbury Public School Colonial Fund (100 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA. 01545) or The Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation Department, 2nd Floor DPW Office, 100 Maple Avenue, Shrewsbury, MA. 01545).

Dear Eirinn,

It is with deep deep sadness we learned of David's passing. You, Michaela, and Maria, are in our thoughts every day here in Chicago and I wish we could be there with you at this time. I walk every morning, early, down through the Lincoln Park gardens which are blooming at this time of year. Only the birds and the occasional groan from an animal in the zoo on my route occupy the serenity with me at that hour of the morning. These past couple of weeks as I look East at the beautiful rising sun over lake Michigan, I think of how life goes on each opening day, I think of you and the girls, and David. The sun from my angle appears to be rising over Shrewsbury each morning and I know David's presence is there with you all each day. We are there with you also and pray that each passing day brings with it a new inner peace. May David rest in peace.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I'm so stunned. I played for many years on the Bocce league but sadly the last two I've been only a sub and haven't seen him much! I will always remember him as the nicest friendliest guy. So devastating and my heart goes out to the family and especially his wife and two beautiful daughters. I have no words. God bless.

David, I remember so well seeing you with your first born daughter at Martha and Paul's home in Woods Hole, MA over the Thanksgiving holiday. You were lit up with sheer happiness over your first little precious baby girl. I knew then how much it meant to you to be a loving and dedicated father, and enjoyed the happiness I saw while watching you play with and console her. I am not surprised what a gift you were to your family, and am so very sorry it has ended so soon. I will never forget you...your laughter, smile and humor always filled every room. You will be deeply missed and always loved.

You could not be in Dave's presence without him making you smile. It was one of his greatest gifts. His love of life was so evident and moreover contagious. He was a Good Man. I hope and pray that Eirinn and his girls will take solace knowing God has a special place for Dad for a life well lived.

I had the pleasure of working with Campi in the Square D SLC field office. He couldn't believe there was so much "open" space in Utah. We had to drive to St George (7 hours away) and he kept saying he could drive through 5 states in 7 hours. He always had a smile on his face and was a joy to be around. I am so sorry for your loss - the world just lost a shining star, but heaven has gained a new one. My deepest sympathy and prayers are with you all.

To Davids Family
Im deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I spent 5 hours in a meeting with David this Tuesday with other members of his Square D team and many of the Granite City Electric employees who all respected and enjoyed Davids input and the role he played for us as his customer. I can say without hesitation he was one of very few people Ive met in 35 plus years in this business that as a customer we thoroughly enjoyed dealing with David. He was honest, gracious and talented and will be missed by Granite City employees across New England.
Im also very thankful for his support and participation in Be Like Brit and his assistance getting us material for construction and personally attending the Gala with his lovely wife. My wife commented multiple times on what a gentleman David always was.
We will miss David as so many others will. He was one of few, and truly belongs on the list of people known as irreplaceable.
My heart goes out to his family during this difficult time. I wish I knew of better words to help you. God bless you all

I met Dave in Highschool. He was always the sweetest, funniest, nicest guy. I remember bumping into him years later, at a Lenny Kravitz concert with Mike Little. He hadn't changed a bit. Most recently, his daughter and mine played softball together. A lifelong friend, a tragic end. My heart aches for his family and everyone that knew him. Gone way too soon, Campi... Way too soon.

I had the pleasure to work with Campi for many years at Square D. I knew him during his initial time with our company in the early 2000s and then actually I hired him back to be our Area Sales Manager in Boston in 2012. His passion for our company was evident and his energy was contagious to everyone around him.

But some of my fondest memories were the off hours spent with Campi. I am confident he will be on the other side of heavens gates waiting to play a hand of 3 card stud, bet on the horses, or just have a big laugh. Truly one-of-a-kind that I will always remember!

I know our glorious God will fill our hearts with the wonderful memories during this time of extreme sorrow.

My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Campaniello family.
