David deVillers Obituary

David C. deVillers, 66

Worcester - David Charles deVillers passed away at home on June 8, 2016 after a short battle with cancer.

David was born January 22, 1950 in Aurora, Colorado to Ernest R. deVillers and Marjorie J. (Wallace) deVillers. He resided in Worcester most of his life.

He leaves 6 brothers and sisters; Frank deVillers and his wife Dolores of West Boylston, Jeanne Saad and her husband John of Oxford, Carole Kemble and her husband James of Westport, Marjorie deVillers of Rutland, Paul deVillers of Spencer, and Robert deVillers and his wife Karen of Westerly, R.I.; his adopted children: Timothy and Michael Rae of Worcester and Elizabeth Eskildsen of Florida; and his former wife, Linda (Paro) deVillers of Worcester. He is predeceased by his loving companion Marsha Anne Gilbert. After Marsha's passing he remained close to her children; Ricky, Jonathan, Andrea and Jessica and became a surrogate grandfather to Marsha's grandchildren. David is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, and his aunt, Gloria Antkowiak of Oxford.

David attended Worcester Boys Trade High School and then joined the U.S. Navy where he was a machinist mate aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt CVB-42. Upon his release from the Navy he became a certified ASE Master Automobile Technician and worked for Midway Fiat in Natick for many years, Roy Rioux VW of Worcester, and later with his brother Bob at Bob's Motorcycle Sales in Westerly, R.I. from which he retired in 2011.

David's interests included family, auto racing, sports, deep sea fishing, and solving the mechanical maladies of his relatives' cars, boats, and motorcycles.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with David's family on Monday, June 13, 2016 from 4-7PM at BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury. His funeral will be on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 with a funeral Mass at 11:00AM at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph's Church, 35 Hamilton Street, Worcester. I hope David's family and friends can stay strong and remember the good times we've shared with him. He was a big family man and would go out of his way to help everyone as much as he could. He is missed by many and loved very much. I'll miss you and promise to make sure Emma and Kaylee know who their Grampa D is. Rest in peace, David. ♡
