Edward Wrightson Obituary

Edward "Eddie" J. Wrightson, 68

Holden/Northborough - Edward "Eddie" J. Wrightson, 68, Formerly of Northborough, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. Born and raised in Worcester, Eddie was the son of Edward J. and Anne E. (McAvoy) Wrightson, and lived 20 years in Northborough before moving to Holden in 2013 to be closer to his family.

Eddie was a graduate of Burncoat Senior High School, and Worcester Junior College. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve from 1968 to 1974. He worked as a Lineman for New England Telephone Co., later Verizon, for 35 years retiring as a Foreman in 2004. Attending Mass every day, Eddie was a devout Catholic, and was a faithful member of St. Mary's Church in Jefferson.

Eddie kept busy after his retirement and was known as the "fix it man." He could fix almost anything from electrical to plumbing and felt honored volunteering his time and talent to his family and friends. Eddie also loved working in his vegetable garden, which he nurtured with patience and careful watchfulness. Eddie also enjoyed following New England sport teams particularly his beloved Boston Red Sox. Other interests included reading, cooking for his family and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be remembered for his integrity, honesty, generosity and remarkable sense of humor. Eddie had a bright smile, and kind blue eyes that will never be forgotten.

His loving wife of 34 years, Susan E. (Howard) Wrightson died in 2004. He is survived by his daughter with whom he lived, Kelly A. Gaumond and her husband, Jason of Jefferson; two sons, Edward H. Wrightson of Worcester and Charles D. Wrightson of Northborough; a brother, Thomas P. Wrightson of Worcester; two sisters, Dorothy A. Swenson of Naples, FL and Janet E. Robertson of Spencer; two cherished grandchildren, Derik W, Wrightson of Vermont and Taylor A. Wrightson of Jefferson; nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eddie's family from 4 to 7 pm on Monday, November 21, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am on Tuesday, November 22, at St. Mary's Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Worcester.
