Florence Konan Obituary
Clinton - Florence D. "Bonnie" (Melvin) Konan, 85, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. She was a Gold Star widow and preceded in death by her husband, US Navy WWII veteran Albert J. Konan, and two of their daughters, Karolyn & Geraldine Konan. She is survived by her eight children; Judith, Jane, Joan, Patrycja, Michael, Jacqueline, Thomas, and Pamela; 12 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She is pre-deceased by 8 of her 9 siblings.
Bonnie was born in Sterling, the youngest of 10 children of the late Elmer & Dora (Eliott) Melvin, originally from Melvin Village, NH. She graduated from the Clinton High School, Class of 1950 and completed the Respiratory Therapy Program at Quinsigamond Community College. She worked and volunteered for many years at the Clinton Hospital and retired from Liberty Mutual.
In addition to raising her 10 children, Bonnie taught CCD in the Clinton Baptist Church and volunteered in the library at the former Our Lady of Jasna Gora School in Clinton. She mastered the art of knitting and crochet, and over the years, lovingly gave hundreds of her hand made scarves and hooded baby blankets to family, friends, and those in need. She also enjoyed gardening and had a gift of nurturing plants and flowers to their fullest potential in her home and yard. Bonnie loved to write and receive cards and letters with spiritual encouragement and she was a blessing to all who knew her.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11AM on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home prior to services Wednesday morning from 9:30-11am.
