George DuVerger Obituary

George L. DuVerger, 92
AUBURN - George L. DuVerger, 92, a longtime Auburn resident, died peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at Saint Vincent Hospital, Worcester.
He leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Grace F. (Lonie) DuVerger; his daughter, Lois G. Therrien and her husband Russell of Auburn; his brother, Roy DuVerger and his wife Trudy of Waynesville, NC; his two grandchildren, Lisa Cove and her husband Eric of Auburn and Leslie Wilson and her husband Peter of Leicester; his five great grandchildren, Julie and Stacy Cove, and Emily, Grace, and Colin Wilson.
George was born in Worcester, son of the late George A. and Hazel M. (Statton) DuVerger. He graduated from Auburn High School. After school, George was called to serve during World War II, assigned to the US Army in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return, George began a long career as a carpenter. He worked for many years with his father and brother building homes in the Auburn area. Later, he worked for Joseph Grignaffini Construction in Wellesley, where he worked until the age of 87. George loved photography and he spent many hours shooting pictures in the area of South Woodstock, Vermont, where George spent time as young boy. His stories of encounters with people he came across while taking pictures were numerous. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Auburn.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with George's family on Sunday, September 22nd from 5-7pm in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be held on Monday, September 23rd at 11 am in the funeral home with the Rev. Brian Grover officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Auburn.
