Helen J. Alexander, 98

Worcester - Helen J. (Radula) Alexander, 98, a long time resident of Vernon Hill, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at her home in Charlton. Her husband of 59 years, Henry F. Alexander, died March 29, 2005. She leaves her daughter, Nancy A. Jarvis of Charlton; two grandsons, Ryan A. Jarvis, Robert D. Jarvis, Jr. and his wife Kimberly, all of Worcester; a brother, Vincent Radula and his wife Lorraine of North Randolph; a brother-in-law, Alfred Alexandrowicz and his wife Mary of Millbury; a sister-in-law, Mildred Alexandrowicz of West Boylston, three great grandchildren, Angelo, Robert Henry and Javion "JJ" Jarvis; several nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companions "Sadie" and "Sighe". Her son-in-law, Robert D. Jarvis, died on Saturday, September 5th. A brother, Francis Radula, also predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester on December 14, 1916, daughter of the late Andrew C. and Helen (Smelter) Radula and lived here most of her life until moving to Charlton last year. She married her sweetheart Henry at the bedside of her mother who was ill in Hahnemann Hospital. She enjoyed extensive world travel with her husband Henry and spending many summers at Cape Cod. She will be remembered for her devotion to taking care of her family and baking her famous banana bread.

CALLING HOURS will be held from 5 to 7 P.M on MONDAY, SEPT. 21 at KELLY FUNERAL HOME, 154 Lincoln St. A FUNERAL MASS will be held at 11 A.M. on TUESDAY, SEPT. 22 in ST. JOHN'S CHURCH, 40 Temple Street. Entombment will follow in Notre Dame Mausoleum.

The family suggests donations in memory of Helen be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, MA 01608 OR the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. To share your thoughts and memories with the family on-line, please visit:
