James "Bill" W. Chisholm Jr., 93

NORTHBOROUGH - James "Bill" W. Chisholm Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Kittery, Maine with loving family by his side. He was 93. He leaves his devoted wife of 67 years, Barbara "Bobby" (Farnsworth) Chisholm; his children, Ann Stirk and her husband Roger of York, ME; Bill Chisholm III of Millbury; Barbara Chisholm and her fiancé Ken Ward of Hudson; David Chisholm and his wife Rose of Shrewsbury; 5 grandchildren, Tammy Ramsey, Ben and Scott Stirk, Erin and Tori Chisholm; 6 great-grandchildren, Nick, Shawn and Keith Ramsey, Shyla Nelson, Christian and Elias Chisholm; many dear nieces and nephews; in-laws, Walter and Nancy (Farnsworth) Barlow of Medway; his deceased siblings, Richard and Eleanor Chisholm.

Born in Worcester, and raised in Lancaster, he was the son of James William and Sarah (Love) Chisholm Sr. After graduating from Lancaster High School, Bill enlisted in the Marine Corps during World War II and proudly served his country from 1942-1946 in the South Pacific. He lived in Northborough for 45 years. A land surveyor by profession, he dedicated 45 years in his field. He loved his work and was known as a perfectionist. Bill started James W. Chisholm Land Surveying in 1973 and worked until his retirement in 1998. After retirement, Bill and Bobby moved to Maine. They vacationed in Hawaii for 28 wonderful years and summered for over 30 years in York, ME with the Barlow family. In the early years, the family vacationed at Lake Waushacum with the Farnsworth family. He was a family man who loved spending time with his grand and great-grandchildren. Bill was a regular at Chet's Diner for breakfast and solved all the world problems with his fellow diners. Many an evening Bill and Bobby were also seen at Tilz Restaurant. Years ago, Mr. Chisholm played semi-pro baseball and enjoyed his time coaching Northborough Little League for 14 years. He was an avid sports fan. He was a member of Northborough Rotary Club and American Legion Post #234.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in Hays Funeral Home, 56 Main St. Northborough, followed by the funeral at 12:00 pm. Burial with military honors will be in Howard St. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to York Hospital Hospice, 127 Long Sands Road, York, ME, 03909.
