Ms. Ryan was my 3rd grade teacher at Park Ave Elementary School in the seventies. I transfered into class from another school and she was so kind and nurturing. She sat me near another girl and introduced us, then said, "I'm sure you two will become best friends." As it turns out, we became best friends. We remained each other's "first best friend" for many years before attending different high schools - only to be reunited our first day of college in Boston. I'm sure Ms. Ryan had done this for many, many students over the years. Think of the bonds she helped to forge over her long career. I will remember her as a wonderful, giving person that had a big impact on my life. Rest in peace Ms. Ryan.
