Jeffrey Powers Obituary

Jeffrey L. Powers, 22, of Downing St. died suddenly from a tragic, accidental fall.

Jeffrey was the beloved son of Barbara and John Powers of Glenville, NY, and wonderful brother to Matthew, 25, and Caitlin, 20, was born October 18, 1985 in Niskayuna, NY. He graduated from Scotia-Glenville H.S. with honors and was a standout athlete in baseball, soccer, Nordic skiing and lacrosse. A lover of the outdoors and camping, he was proud of his Eagle Scout status.

In February Jeff moved to Worcester, MA to be close to his girlfriend, Emma Gabriele, and took a job with Darmann Abrasives, where he was responsible for machine custom abrasive products.

Jeff was a skilled artist and most recently taught himself how to play the guitar. He was extremely proud of his electric guitar, a gift from his brother.

He was intensely loyal and protective, he made friends for life. Jeff's spirit will live on. He donated his heart, kidneys, pancreas and liver to the New England Organ Bank so that others would have hope, where none existed before.

Other family members include his uncles John, Mike and Bill Powers; his aunts, Linda Meyer, Lorraine Hohenforst and Sally Powers; his dear friends, Emma, Michelle, James, John and Jamie. Jeff has lit up so many lives with so much love.

A funeral service to celebrate his life will be Saturday at 1 PM, May 10, 2008.

Donations to one's favorite charity in Jeff's name is the family preference. On-line condolences to the powers family may be sent to www.

To the Powers family and friends:
I did not know Jeffery, but even not knowing him he has touched my life and my heart. God wanted a special Angel so he called upon Jeffery. May the lord bless the family and give you the strength to accept this oh so sorrowful time. Your in my prayers..

To Jeff's family,
Happy moments, Praise God.
Difficult moments, seek God.
Quiet moments, worship God.
Painful moments, trust God.
Every moment, thank God.

Remember

Remember me when I am gone away,
Gone far away into the silent land;
When you can no more hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go yet turning stay.
Remember me when no more day by day
You tell me of our future that you plann'd:
Only remember me; you understand
It will be late to counsel then or pray.
Yet if you should forget me for a while
And afterwards remember, do not grieve:
For if the darkness and corruption leave
A vestige of the thoughts that once I had,
Better by far you should forget and smile
Than that you should remember and be sad.
