Joan Kelley Bogan

Worcester - Joan Marie (Kelley) Bogan died in her home on October 30, 2014 in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. She was 78.

Joan was born on August 26, 1936 in Worcester, MA to her parents, Harold and Margaret Kelley. She lived at 10 Ashmont Avenue, attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church and graduated from St. Peters High School in Worcester in 1954. She married Gordon Svendsen in 1956 and moved to Los Angeles where she served as a homemaker and loving mother until 1971. Joan then moved her three children to Newbury Park, CA where she began life as a single mother. She worked over 35 years in manufacturing, security systems and after school child care. Joan met and married Hugh Bogan in 1986.

A dedicated and loving mother, Joan had a passion for her Irish heritage, joyful dancing, and time spent with friends. Her working years in the public school system providing after school care were her most satisfying. She touched the lives of many children in these programs throughout the Temecula School District in Temecula, CA.

Joan is survived by husband Hugh Bogan, her son and daughter in-law, Robert and Jill Svendsen of Encinitas, CA; her daughter and son in-law, Kathy and Michael Huffstatler of Rancho Cucamonga, CA; her son, Paul Svendsen and his partner Michael Andrews of Los Angeles, CA; three grandchildren, Michael Svendsen, Kyle Svendsen and Kyle Huffstatler; her brother Harold Kelley and wife Natalie, her brother Gerald Kelley and wife Gail and her cousins Mary Grady and husband John Grady and James Corrigan. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Richard and Donald. Joan's passing is felt by many close friends, especially Chris Brown of Saugus, CA.

Joan will be interred in a ceremony on November 28, 2014 at Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, CA. In lieu of flowers a gift can be made in Joan's honor to the Celiac Disease Foundation.
