John Dowd Obituary
WEST BOYLSTON - John T. Dowd, 89, of West Boylston, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, September 19, 2019.
John leaves his wife of nearly 67 years, Marjorie A. (Quaiel) Dowd; four children, John P. Dowd and his wife, Suzette of Auburn, Terence F. Dowd and his wife, Maude of Philadelphia, PA, Kathryn M. Coleman and her husband, Bruce of Austin, TX and Philip J. Dowd and his wife, Beth of Holden; 10 grandchildren, Courtney, Ashley, Brian, Terence, Lauren, Kellie, Caroline, Vincent, Emma and Grace; two great-grandchildren, Taelyn and Matthew; a brother, Gerald "Ding" M. Dowd and his wife, Marilyn of Worcester and nieces and nephews.
He was born in Worcester, son of John and Catherine (O'Connor) Dowd. John was a graduate of St. John's High School on Temple Street and received a Bachelor's Degree from Clark University.
John retired from the Nynex Engineering Department after 38 years of service. He went on to co-found RBE Inc where he performed specialized services for Nynex for 15 years. He enjoyed time spent: skiing with Wachusett Old Time Skiers, West Boylston Pitch League, his daily coffee group at Vivian's and in his earlier years spent at the Central YMCA and the Ionic Avenue Boys Club.
Visiting Hours to Honor and Celebrate John's Life will be held Monday, September 23 from 4 to 7pm at Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 1 West Boylston Street. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, September 24 at 10am at St. John's Church, 40 Temple Street, Worcester. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
