John Langas Obituary
North Grafton - John B. Langas, 74, of No. Grafton, passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 in St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester. He was born in Worcester, the son of the late Vasilios and Efterpi (Bagianis) Langas and lived in Worcester for many years before moving to No. Grafton.
John leaves his wife of 43 years, Betsy T. (Peepas) Langas, his sister-in-law, Katherine T. Peepas of Worcester, several cousins, and many close personal friends. His sister, Aspasia "Pat" Langas predeceased him.
He graduated from North High School in 1962, Worcester Industrial Technical Institute in 1964, Control Data Institute in 1972, and Central New England College in 1988. In 1990, John received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Management from Nichols College.
John retired from EMC Corporation as an electronics test technician in 2006. Previously John was a manager for Data General Corporation in Southboro for several years. While in High School, John enjoyed working at the former Highland Diner in Worcester.
John was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Worcester, and was a proud member and sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, having served from 1967-1971. He was a member of the Greendale Retired Men's Club and the Northborough Y.M.C.A.
John enjoyed working with many types of electronics such as TV's, videos, and computers. He would custom build computers for family and friends. His interests included computer repairs, gardening, reading, and attending concerts and the Hanover Broadway Series. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S, Caribbean, and Europe with family and friends.
Funeral services for John will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held from 9:30 - 11:00 AM in the Cathedral prior to the funeral service.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Philip G. Haddad, Jr., Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden. In lieu of flowers, please remember John with a contribution to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral's "Burn the Mortgage Fund," 102 Russell Street, Worcester 01609. My deepest condolences on the loss of a great man. I am so sorry to learn of his falling asleep in the Lord. John and I had many wonderful conversations about your travels, about the community of Saint Spyridon and about the early Greeks of Worcester. He was always involved in the church and The Hellenic Arts Society and I was really impressed by his humble stewardship and love for our community. I am sorry that I cannot attend tomorrow.

John and I grew up on Dover St in Worcester.
John, myself, and another boy were the best of
friends for many years. I lost contact after I
got married in 1964. Often wondered what he was
doing. So very sorry. 74 is to young.
