John Waage, 38

Brookfield - John Waage, 38, of Brookfield died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 24th with his family by his side.

John is survived by his wife of 5 years, Lisa A. DelVescovo – Waage; his father, Jeff Waage of Kew Gardens, NY; his mother and stepfather, Michael and Elaine (Diaz) Engros of Wantagh, NY, and his beloved cats, Gustav and Maya, Aunt Marie Diaz, Aunt Diane Waage of Fl, and Uncle Dave & Aunt Maureen of Bolton Landing NY. John is also survived by his cousins, Josephine, Jennifer & her family, Christopher, Marie & her family, Linda, Susan & her family and many 2nd & 3rd cousins who all miss him him dearly.

John was born in Franklin Square, Long Island, NY and was currently working at the David Prouty High School in Spencer as the Music Director, and Band Director for the marching Panther Band. He obtained a graduate degree from the University of Rhode Island, and was a proud member of the URI RAM Marching Band. John attended Seaford High School and was a proud member of the Seaford Viking Band. His greatest joys were teaching, traveling the world, and spending time with his family and many beloved friends. John and his wife Lisa will always have cruising, and Paris.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 27th in the Pillsbury Funeral Home 3 West Brookfield Rd., Brookfield. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon at the conclusion of the calling hours. Services will also be held at a later date in Queens, NY. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the John Waage Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o David Prouty High School 302 Main Street Spencer, MA 01562. Please visit www.

We are so very sorry to hear of this loss. Mr. Waage was a great teacher, and my daughter both enjoyed, and learned much from his class. This is a devastating loss to not only his wife and family (and kittys!), but to the DPHS community as well. May he rest in peace.
