John Zannotti 96

Auburn - John Zannotti, 96 of Auburn, passed away peacefully home to his Lord, Jesus Christ, Thursday, June 13, 2019 with the ones he loved gathered at his side.

John was born, February 16th, 1923, in Worcester, one of five sons of Italian immigrants Amedeo and Filomena (Gagliardi) Zannotti. Raised here and in 1943, during the height of World War II, John joined the U.S. Navy serving his country proudly, in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre, Philippine Liberation and the demilitarization of Japan as a part of the 3rd and 5th fleets aboard the destroyer USS Caperton. He returned home in 1940. In 1954, John married Inez M. Jansson the "Love of his Life" and began a 64-year marriage of love, family, faith, and devotion, until October 2, 2018 when Inez passed away and left his side. He joins her now in heaven along with his parents, four brothers, Frank, Alphonse, Tristano and Julio Zannotti and other family members.

John had a long career as a route driver for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette fleet operations, delivering morning, evening and sunday newspapers for many years before retiring. He then co-founded, nurtured and donated his time for 35 years counseling and witnessing faith to inmates through the Worcester County Prison ministry.

John was a member of the First Assembly of God Church where he and his wife, were active members of the fifty-niners group. A man with a deep faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and a devoted husband, father, and faithful grandfather. John loved the Red Sox and New England Patriots. He loved playing with her grandchildren and grandpuppies. John will always be remembered for his kind heart and gentle spirit.

John leaves behind devoted family, Gary Zannotti and his wife Francie of Enfield, CT; Gail Suprenant and husband John of Worcester, Glen Zannotti of Paxton; five grandchildren, DanaRose Paradis and husband Gerrin, Justin Zannotti, Anthony Suprenant, Nicole Suprenant and John Suprenant, Jr. along with many nephews, nieces and extended family members.

Friends and relatives are invited to calling hours, Tuesday, June 18th from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. His funeral service will be held, at 11:00 am in the First Assembly of God Church, 30 Tyler Prentice Rd, Worcester. Burial next to Inez will follow in Hope Cemetery. I had the pleasure of taking care of him over the last 2 years I am so sorry for the loss of him... but so grateful that he is with his bride. We pinky swore that he was my way into heaven .. he never went back on a pinky swear .. until we meet again my sweet friend.. Rest In Peace ❤
