Joseph Bates Obituary
WORCESTER - Joseph P. Bates, 30, of Worcester died Thursday, April 6, 2017 at home.
He leaves three brothers, Jason M. Bates and his wife Angela of Worcester, and Michael E. and Zachary R. Bates, both of Spencer; four nieces, Madyson, Avery, Laura and Annaleigh Bates; his stepfather, George P. Valentzas of Worcester; and many aunts and uncles.
His mother Linda L. (Savoie) Bates Valentzas died in 2015. His father Michael P. Bates died in 2008.
Joe lived in Worcester all his life. He was a graduate of Burncoat High School.
Joe worked many years for the U.S. Postal Service.
Joe was a devoted fan of all the Boston professional sports teams and the New England Patriots. He also loved fishing.
Calling hours are Tuesday, April 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester. Funeral services and burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Jay, I am terribly sorry for your loss, I remember Joey when he was just a young boy, he was a spunky little kid, and so funny. I met you guys through Brandon and Devon.
