My sincere condolences to the entire Rollins family on your loss.If teaching is an art, Mr. Rollins ranks as one of the Masters--a Renoir, a Picasso, or a Monet. I am proud to say Mr. Rollins was my fifth grade just around the time of the opening of the "new" Memorial School.Such a profound inspiration, such an incredible role model--who ignited our learning.I became a fifth grade teacher in the late 1960s. No surprise that I modeled my teaching style after--Joseph Rollins!
Thank you Mr. Rollins for being that very special teacher. And thank you as well for your service to our country.
I think that Teddy Roosevelt's quote: 'Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground' best sums up what Mr. Rollins did for us.
God bless. Rest in peace, teacher extraordinaire.

Mrs. Rollins, I was so sad to hear of your husbands passing. About a year ago I stopped by your home to get a copy of his book. Your incredible story of love and how it has no boundaries will stay with me for a lifetime. SD

Mr. Rollins was an inspiring teacher, a patriotic American and a terrific role model for his students. I have many fond memories of my 5th grade class at Center School and I offer his family my most sincere condolences. He was a great teacher who taught us, especially me, much more than the written curriculum. Thank you and rest in peace.

Mr Rollins was one of the greatest teachers I had during my early education in Leicester. He always kept us students interested in the class material. He also intrigued us by ripping phone books in half and showing us his monkey brain:). I aspire to be a great educator like Mr. Rollins.

To the Rollins family, please accept my condolences on the passing of Joe. Our family would visit your home when we were young and I always remember what a treat that was. Kindness abounded!

God bless the Rollins family at this time of sorrow. Although Mr. Rollins was not my 5th grade teacher, he was there across the hall from Mr Eldridges's 5th grade many years ago. He was dedicated and loved by so many students.

Many happy memories. You were a huge part of my childhood. Thanks for the many things that you taught me, like how to chop down a tree with an ax, a skill I still use today. You will be missed.

Like many others, I am a former student of Mr. Rollins. He was patient, understanding, encouraging and caring. He was my favorite. I remember giving him a plaque the last day of school that read "Leicester's Finest." I truly believe he was. My deepest sympathies to his family and friends.

Mr. Rollins was my fifth grade teacher, my first male instructor, and one of my favorite. He encouraged learning and made the process interesting. Extremely sad to learn of his passing. My thoughts are with his family during this very difficult time.

Mr. Rollins was my 5th grade teacher, and he was one of the finest, and most encouraging, instructors I experienced in my years of academic study, from Worcester and Leicester elementary schools through Harvard. He had a way of energizing and inspiring students, and his vibrant appreciation of history - especially of the World War II era - nurtured my love of this subject which continues to the present. I am sure that he leaves behind a wealth of fine memories, for the generations of students fortunate enough to have studied under his patient and careful guidance.
