Dear Smith family: I knew Lennie in the army in OCS and Vietnam. He was a true friend who didn't take guff from anyone. I just now saw this obituary and it brought a tear to my eye. We sure had fun.

Kathy and family, so sorry for your loss.
Always enjoyed Lenny's quick wit and humorous comments, especially while officiating with him. He was a great guy, truly one of a kind.

I was saddened to learn yesterday of Lenny's passing. I was a Field Hockey Coach at Wachusett in the late 80s, early 90s. Lenny was frequently one of our refs. As coaches, we were always happy to see Lenny come up the hill, as we knew he would call a fair game. One year, on Halloween, he and Bill Daigle (another of our favorites) showed up to ref in costumes as a snowman and a bear. Such a testament to his ever ready sense of humor. I hadn't seen Lenny in years, but will always remember him fondly from those days/years. Please accept my sincere condolences. He will be remembered and missed by many.

Dear Kathy and Family,
Lenny's strength, wit, and humor will always be remembered. As a boy my Mom and Dad (Lenny's Aunt and Uncle) would tell me stories of his youth and how proud they were of him. Those memories of such a great man will endure forever.

To all my old neighbors from the hill, I am so sorry to hear about Lenny. I am not sure he ever knew how large he loomed in my mind! He was always a hero to me as I still remember him coming home from Viet Nam wounded but then eventually running the courts to play and officiate basketball. He was one of my biggest supporters at the park when I would be shooting hoops and he would coach me on the finesse moves. Running into him on visits home, he was the same strong bear hugging guy filling me in on the "kids" that I had spent evenings babysitting! They are all fond memories that I will hold close. Thought and prayers to you all. Peace in your loss.
