Libby Brickman Obituary

Libby (Gaffin) Brickman, 89, a resident of the Eisenberg Assisted Living for the past ten years, died at the Jewish Healthcare Hospice at the Holy Trinity Washburn House, Thursday, April 21st.

Libby was born June 4, 1921 in Worcester, daughter of the late Julius and Eva (Parker) Gaffin.

Her husband, Maurice (Maishe) Brickman predeceased her in 2000 as did her brother Henry Gaffin in 2010.

She leaves two devoted sons, Steven Brickman and his wife Meryl of Worcester, Rabbi Kenneth Brickman and his partner Michael Pizzi of New York City and two grandchildren, Jean Brickman and her fiancé David Gorham of Worcester and Jonathan Brickman of Boston; her sister-in-law, Ethel Gaffin of Worcester and also many nieces and nephews.

Libby was active in many Jewish organizations, having served as president of the Worcester Chapter of Pioneer Women and of Women's Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, Post 32. She enjoyed playing mahjongg with her friends for many years. She was a wonderful cook and baker and loved feeding her family. Most of all she enjoyed and loved being a bubbe to Jean and Jonathan. Her face would light up with joy whenever she was with them. There was nothing she liked better than to kvell over their accomplishments at every stage of their lives.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Eisenberg Assisted Living and the Jewish Healthcare Hospice at the Holy Trinity Washburn House for the wonderful, loving and tender care she received.

Contributions in Libby's memory may be made to the Eisenberg Assisted Living Residence, 631 Salisbury St., Worcester, 01609.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM TODAY, FRIDAY, APRIL 22nd at Perlman Funeral Home, 1026 Main St., Worcester. Interment will follow at B'nai B'rith Cemetery.

Memorial Observance will be held, today, Friday, April 22nd at Eisenberg Assisted Living, 631 Salisbury St.
